Firstly, substitute the given value of x.

f(x) = ( - x)^(3) \\ f( - 2) = ( - ( - 2))^(3)
Next, distribute the negative sign. Like signs make a positive value.

( - ( - 2)) = 2
Lastly, solve the exponent.

2 ^(3) = 8
Therefore:

f( - 2) = 8
