3x + 2y + 1 = 0

subtract 3x+1 from each side

3x + 2y + 1 - 3x -1= -3x -1

2y = -3x-1

divide by 2 on each side

2y/2 = -3x/2 -1/2

y = -3/2 x -1/2

this is in the form y = mx +b where m is the slope

m = -3/2

the slope is -3/2
