During the Convention of 1818, British North America and the United States established the 49th parallel of latitude as the border with Canada. The delegates at the convention established another six articles such as Article 1, that secured rights for fishing for the United States in Newfoundland and Labrador. Article III, that established join control for ten years of Oregon County. Or Article IV, that extended trade regulation between the countries for 10 more years.
