(1 + i)/(1 + 2i)

To simplify this, we need to multiply both sides by the conjugate.

(1 + i)(1 - 2i)

1 - 2i - i - 3i^2

Combine like terms.

3i^2 - 3i + 1

i^2 = -1

-3i - 2 is the simplified numerator.

(1 + 2i)(1 - 2i)

1 - 2i + 2i - 4i^2

1 - 4i^2

i^2 = -2

1 + 4

5

The simplified expression is ((-3i)/5) + ((-2)/5)
