Equality is everyone should have an equal vote and a equal chance to participate and succeed. Democracy is the government should be accountable to by people. Civic duty is Americans feel people must take community affairs seriously and help when they can. Finally, Individual responsibility is the American view that barring some disability they are responsible for their own actions and well-being.

America has the political structure of a federal republic, with a federal government that is in charge of the administration of the nation, and state governments that exercise sovereignty over their respective territories in conjunction with the federal government.

In turn, its government is divided into three branches: the executive branch, in charge of the President, who is in charge of managing the nation's resources and enforcing its laws; the legislative power, in charge of Congress, that sanctions the laws of the nation; and the judiciary, in charge of the Supreme Court, whose function is to sanction those who violate the rules. Furthermore, all these powers of the government control each other through the checks and balances system.
