Britain was responsible in starting World War 1 because as Germany was forwarding with the Schlieffen plan which was designed by Alfred von Schlieffen, Britain did not tell German Officials that Britain had a treaty with Belgium and would have to intervene if Germany was to invade Belgium (McMeekin).

Even though Germany wanted to avoid the war, Germany was forced to pay reparation for all the war damages that occurred during WWI, resulting in an over-printing of money, a downturn of economy, and combined with what is later known as the Great Depression, a fall-out that led to the rise of the Nazi Regime & Hitler to power.
