You have $13 in all

13 = 4h + 5

Isolate the h. Note the equal sign, what you do to one side, you do to the other. Do the opposite of PEMDAS.

Subtract 5 from both sides

13 (-5) = 4h + 5 (-5)

4h = 13 - 5

4h = 8

Divide 4 from both sides

(4h)/4 = (8)/4

h = 8/4

h = 2

2 hours is your limit for the amount of hours you can ride with $13 and after buying snacks.
