Mary, Hans, and Alan have a total of $54 in their wallets. Mary has $10 more than Hans. Alan has 2 times what Mary has. How much do they have in their

Answer: $95

Explanation:

Let's say Maria is M, Hans is H and Alan is A. Maria has M amount of money. If Hans has 10 more than Maria, he has M+10. If Alan has 3 times what Hans has and Hans has (M+10), then Alan has 3(M+10) which is 3M+30. Altogether they have 95 dollars. So we will add up what they have and set it equal to 95. M+10+M+30+3M=95. That simplifies to 5M+40=95 and 5M=55. Therefore, Maria has 11 dollars. Hans has 10+11=21, and Alan has 3(21)=63. 11+21+63=95
