Mr. Vectadore is buying two new cowboy hats. All together the hats cost $75.12. The second hat costs twice as much as the first hat. What is the price of the more expensive hat?

1) IF X is the first hat and Y is the second hat , then

X+Y = $ 75,12, but as Y is twice more expensive than X , Y = 2X,

X +2X = 75,12 ⇒ 3X = 75,12⇒ X = 75,12/3 = 25,04, then the price of the more expensive hat is

Y = 2* 25,04 = $50,08
