\bf 8x-2y=6\implies 8x=6+2y\implies 8x-6=2y \\\\\\ \cfrac{8x-6}{2}=y\implies \cfrac{8x}{2}-\cfrac{6}{2}=y\implies 4x\stackrel{\stackrel{b}{\downarrow }}{-3}=y~\hfill \begin{array}c \cline{1-1} slope-intercept~form\\ \cline{1-1} \\ y=\underset{y-intercept}{\stackrel{slope\qquad }{\stackrel{\downarrow }{m}x+\underset{\uparrow }{b}}} \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array} \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ ~\hfill \stackrel{y-intercept}{(0,-3)}~\hfill

wirte down the intercept form

intercept form : x/a+y/b = 1

a: x intercept b: y intercept

so

intercept form of 8x-2y=6

is x/(3/4) + y/(-3) = 1

thus we see that

y intercept is -3
