remember, if ab=0, assume that a=0 and b=0



x^2-4x=0

factor


(x)(x-4)=0

solve x=0 and x-4=0


x=0


x-4=0

x=4


so x=0 and 4

x(x−4)=0 Step 1: Factor left side of equation.

x=0 or x−4=0 Step 2: Set factors equal to 0.
