Question: Find the x- and y-intercept of the line.

-4x +2y = 24

Answers: x-intercept is 12; y-intercept is -6

Explanation: If x=0 the equation is 2y=24 y=12 so (0,12) is the y-intercept.

and If y=0, the equation is -4x=24 x=-6 so (-6,0) is the x-intercept.

the x-intercept is where the line crosses the x-axis or where y=0

the y-intercept is where the line crosses the y-axis or where x=0

x-intercept: set y=0 and find x

-4x+2y=24

-4x+0=24

-4x=24

x=-6

x-intercept is -6

y-intercept: set x=0

-4x+2y=24

0+2y=24

2y=24

y=12

y-intercept is 12

answer is 4th option
