The League of Nations held a session to sternly condemn Italy for violating the sovereignty of Ethiopia, one of the only two genuinely independent African countries at the time (the other being (Liberia) and a boycott (ban) on the purchase of Italian goods by the country-members of the League was imposed on Italy, but this economic measure had no effect in the outcome of the Italian invasion which ended wit the full conquest of Ethiopia.
