There are two ways that post-secondary (college-level education) remediation can impact a student, which are:
- It increases the student’s persistence to continue his or her education to the next year, or in other words, it would prevent them from dropping out early.
- It can increase the academic achievement of the student who receives them, although this particular impact does not apply to all remedial courses – the biggest observed impact so far occurs in students who participated in writing remedial classes.
