You first need to multiply the whole second equation by to. So, your two equations would then be -8x + 5y = -9 and 8x + 6y = -46. You then add the two equations to get 11y = -55. This would mean you get y = -5. Then you substitute -5 for y in the first equation. This would mean it would be -8x -25 = -9. Then you add 25 to both sides to get -8x = 16. Then you divide both sides by -8 to get x = -2.
