Kip starts with 1 4/6 lbs of toffee. First we need to convert this to an improper fraction, the improper fraction is 10/6

Now subtract 5/6 from 10/6,

10/6 - 5/6 = 5/6

Kip has 5/6 lbs of toffee left. He gave half of what he originally had to his friend.

Hope that helps ya!
