A 9-meter flagpole casts a 7-meter shadow. The cell tower next to the flagpole is 16.2 meters tall. How many meters long is the cell tower’s shadow?

using proportion in similar triangle, then

let x be the length of the tower's shadow


(9)/(16.2) =
(7)/(x) ( cross- multiply )

9x = 113.4 ( divide both sides by 9 )

x =
(113.4)/(9) = 12.60 m ( to the nearest hundredth )
