A country's population in 1990 was 134 million.

In 2000 it was 139 million. Estimate the population in 2014 using the exponential growth formula. Round your answer to the nearest million.

P =Ae^kt

note: When solving for k, round to four decimal places!

A = 134 million

P = 139 million

t = 10 years.

k = ???

P/A = e^(kt)

139/134 = 1.037313 [ round later]

ln(1.037313) = k*t ln(e)

0.036634 = k*10

k = 0.0036634

=============

for 2014 the time passed from 1990 to 2014 = 24 years.

t = 24

k = 0.0036634

A = 134

P = ???

P = 134 * e^(kt)

P = 134 * e^(0.0036634*24)

P = 134 * 1.0919025

P = 146.3
