for
ax^2+bx+c if a=1, then it can be factored into form (x+p)(x+q) where pq=c and q+p=b

in the given problem, a=1, b=3, c=-10

we want to find values of q and p such that qp=-10 and q+p=3

the values in the table are those that satisfy qp=-10

only 1 set satisfies the q+p==3 criteria, that is when p=-2 and q=5

so it factors to (x-2)(x+5)
