Robert is deciding what to wear to school. He has a purple shirt, a yellow shirt, and a green shirt, and he has gray and beige pants. He also has running shoes and skate shoes. If he can wear any color shirt with any pair of pants and any pair of shoes, how many different combinations can Robert pick?

4 shirts, 2 pants, 2 shoes

so he can pick 4*2*2=16 different combinations

There are 12 possible variations for Robert to choose from, 4 for each shirt.
