a mitosis inhibitor is a medicine that is designed to prevent mitosis in certain cells. why would these be helpful in the treatment of tumors.

This can be helpful to treat tumors because tumors grow at a rapid rate and they are "out of control". By inhibiting the mitosis production, the tumor cells can also stop growing.
