How was the function of a ziggurat reflected in its appearance?

A Ziggurat is a pyramid shaped temple that Sumerians used to worship gods. Only certain people such as priests were allowed in the Ziggurat. The Ziggurat is tall and wide because they believed that the tall temple was so tall they could hear the gods.

the ziggurat itself is the base which the white temple is set it's purpose is to get the temple close to heavens
