Note the area formula for a square:

let s = side; A = area of square

s² = A

Note that A = 121. Plug in 121 for A

s² = A

s² = 121

Isolate the s. Note that what you do to one side, you do to the other. Root both sides.

√s² = √121

s = √121

s = √121 = √(11 x 11) = 11 (Note that two of the same factors inside the root can become a whole number outside the root)

Each side of the square is 11 feet. (length = 11 feet; width = 11 feet)

In this case, the length (long) of the car measures 13 feet, which is greater than 11.

No, 13 > 11, which means that the car will not fit.
