Answer:

896 square inches.

Explanation:

The area of a rectangle its given by the length multiplied by the width.

This particle rectangle has:

lenght = 2 feet 8 inches

width = 2 feet 4 inches

We could just multiplied this two values, but that will mess up our units. First, we need to convert it to just one unit of distance. As the problem ask for the answer in square inches, we will convert the feet into inches.

The conversion equation its:

1 feet = 12 inches

If we got 2 feet...

2 \ feet = 2 \ feet * (12 \ inches)/(1 \ feet) = 24 \ inches

So, our lenght and width, in inches, will be:

lenght = 24 inches + 8 inches = 32 inches

width = 24 inches + 4 inches = 28 inches

Now, area = lenght * width:

area \ = \ lenght \ * \ widht \

area \ = \ 32 \ inches \ * \ 28 \ inches \

area \ = \ 896 \ inches^2

The area of the piece of plywood its 896 square inches.
