The baseball team voted on what they wanted to eat after the game. The team consists of 30 players. 8 players voted for pizza, 12 players voted for chicken, and the rest voted for hamburgers.

Explain in complete sentences how you would find the ratio of votes for pizza to hamburgers.

*I should see complete sentences not just math steps with ratios.

*How would you explain this to a new student in class?

We are given

The baseball team voted on what they wanted to eat after the game

so, total number of players =30

pizza vote =8

chicken vote=12

Let's assume hamburgers vote as

so, sum of all votes must be 30

we get

pizza vote + chicken vote + hamburgers vote= total number of vote

we can plug values

8+12+x=30

x=10

So,

hamburgers vote=10

now, we have to find the ratio of votes for pizza to hamburgers

so, we get

=(8)/(10)

now, we can simplify it

=(2* 4)/(2* 5)

=(4)/(5)

So,

the ratio of votes for pizza to hamburgers is

=(4)/(5)............Answer
