Fabian harvests 10 pounds of tomatoes from his garden. He needs 2.4 pounds to make a batch of soup. If he sets aside 2.8 pounds of tomatoes to make spaghetti sauce, how many batches of soup can Fabian make?

Fabián can make 3 batches, because 10-2.8= 7.2 and 7.2/2.4= 3 batches.

Explanation:

Hi, to answer this question, first, we have to subtract the pounds used for spaghetti sauce (2.8) to the pounds available (10)

10-2.8 = 7.2

Finally we have to divide the remaining pounds (7.2) by the amount of pounds that each batch of soups needs (2.4)

7.2/2.4= 3 batches of soup
