The mass of oxygen that would formed from 2.30 moles of water is 36.8 grams

calculation

2H2O → 2H2 + O2

Step 1: find the moles of O2 using the mole ratio

The mole ratio of H2O :O2 is 2:1 therefore the moles of O2

= 2.30 moles x 1/2 =1.15 moles

Step 2: find the mass of O2

mass= moles of O2 x molar mass of O2

from periodic table the molar mass of O2 =16 g/mol

since there is 2 atom of Oxygen the molar mass = 16 g/mol x2 = 32 g/mol

mass is therefore= 1.15 moles x 32 g/mol= 36.8 grams
