Peter the Great:
1.Peter began a number of reforms in Russia
2.Peter took a long trip to Western Europe
3. Peter built a new capital city
Peter the Great's first efforts to modernize Russia was a number of reforms for his country. He implemented them mainly influenced by his western advisers. And although he faced a lot of opposition for those new policies, he violently suppressed all the rebellions against his authority.
Then he traveled to Europe incognito with a Russian delegation which was called "Grand embassy of Peter I". His main goal with that trip was to seek the support of European monarchs in order to defeat the Ottoman empire. And finally, he built a new capital city for Russia on May 27th 1703. The city's name was Saint Petersburg, which was the capital of Russian Empire for more than 200 years until the Russian revolution took place in 1917.
