The Code of Hammurabi is a Babylonian code of law of ancient Mesopotamia, dated back to about 1754 BCE. It iwas enacted by the sixth Babylonian king, Hammurabi and constitutes one of the most ancient deciphered writings of important length in the world. Nearly half of the code deals with matters of contract. The code was found by modern archaeologists in 1901.
