First, write an equation:

2x+6=14

We want to get x by itself, so next we should subtract 6 from both sides and get

2x=8

Finally, divide both sides by 2 and get

x=4

The number is 4

the number is 4. 15-6=8 divide that by 2 and you are left with 4
