So, we have 2 canoes with teams. They are both at a constant speed of 6mph, but one of them is 2mi ahead.

Assuming
d = distance and
t = time,we express that as:

Team A =
(6d)/(t)+2

Team B =
(6d)/(t)

Because of those 2 extra miles and both canoes travelling at the same constant speed, they will never reach one another, like you correctly answered below.
