After about three hours of battle, the Americans ran out of ammunition, making them have to retreat. The British then claimed victory at Freeman's Farm. There were two battles of Saratoga, one on october 7, were Burgoyne decided he coudn't wait any longer and fired an attack without reinforcements. The other on september 19, Burgoyne's army moved south and secured the continental army at the battle of Freeman's Farm.
