Answer: x=6 and 6=x *The answer should be have positive sign.*

Explanation:

subtraction property of equality is subtracting the same number from both sides of an equation does not change the equation.

a-c=b-c

subtract by 13 both sides of an equation.

-5x+13-13=-17-13

simplify by equation.

-5x=-30

then divide by -5 both sides of an equation.

-5x-5=-30/-5

simplify by equation.

30/5=6

30/6=5

6*5=30

5*6=30

It change negative to positive.

x=6

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Have a great day!

Subtract 13 from both sides

-5x = -17 - 13

Simplify -17 - 13 to -30

-5x = -30

Divide both sides by -5

x = -30/-5

Two negatives make a positive

x = 30/5

Simplify 30/5 to 6

x = 6
