STEP-BY-STEP SOLUTION:
Let original price = x
New price with 10% discount from the original price = $50
( 100% - 10% )x = 50
90% of x = 50
x = ( 50 / 90% ) × 100%
x = $55.55 reciprocal
x = $55.55 ( to the nearest nickel )
