In the book “The Book Thief”, Hans Hubermann was a very kind, patient and generous character. He had a good heart and often felt empathy for others and because of it he couldn’t see anyone suffering or in pain. Feeding the marching Jews during the Holocaust was something that his heart told him to do, as he wanted to help somehow and he couldn’t stand seeing people dying of starvation. However, this dangerous act also would have transformed himself and his entire family into targets, because if the nazists found out that he was feeding the marching Jews he would have been severely punished and probably killed by them.
