Well first off, they both killed a lot of people, they also changed how diseases and food distribution was treated (I am guessing).

Many Many people died during the Black Death and the Great Famine(over a third of europe's population) causing loss of human resources like miners, farmers, soldiers etc. This impacted the food supply, economy and population of europe immensely. They were either killed by lack of food or the Black Plauge.
