Answer: x=-17 and -17=x. *The answer should be the negative sign.*

Explanation:

subtraction property of equality is subtracting the same number from both sides of an equation does not change the equation.

a-c=b-c

subtract by 5 both sides of an equation.

x+5-5=-12-5

simplify.

12+5=17

17-5=12

17-12=5

x=-17 and -17=x

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Have a great day!
