Answer: y=-10 and -10=y. *The answer should be the negative sign.*

Explanation:

distributive property: a(b+c)=ab+ac

divide by -3 both sides of an equation.

-3(y+5)/-3=15/-3

simplify.

y+5=-5

subtract by 5 both sides of an equation.

y+5-5=-5-5

simplify by equation.

5+5=10

y=-10

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Have a great day!

Divide both sides by -3

y + 5 = -15/3

Simplify 15/3 to 5

y + 5 = -5

Subtract 5 from both sides

y = -5 - 5

Simplify -5 - 5 to -10

y = -10
