Steps to find LCM

Find the prime factorization of 9
9 = 3 × 3
Find the prime factorization of 12
12 = 2 × 2 × 3
Multiply each factor the greater number of times it occurs in steps i) or ii) above to find the lcm:

LCM = 2 × 2 × 3 × 3
LCM = 36

The LMC of 9 and 12 is 3... because 3 goes into both of them. And there is no number less that 3 that is a multiple of 9 and 12
