The correct answer is to encourage people to fight against sin.

According to Charles Finney, there needs to be excitement in the church to overcome and fight against sin. Many people will not give up their sinful acts unless they are excited to do so which would lead to obeying God.

Finney further suggests that it's important for there to be excitement so to overcome the sinful obstacles which oppose God's will. Our will is easily captured by worldly, sinful desires and so it's excitement that will break the sinful desires and help one to obey God.

Answer number 3. To help people to fight against sin.

Charles Finney's religious excitments derived from the general idea of things that excited men like politics or everyday distractions that led people´s minds off religion.

He thought there must be sufficient excitements in religion to wake up moral in the minds of people and fight back sins, degradation, and depravity that causes men to derail from God's path.
