Tom Watson played the following role in Georgia politics:

A) Watson championed the interests of farmers and ordinary citizens.

Thomas Watson was known for his support and promotion of the Populist Party. Watson believed that rural and farming societies were more important socially than urban societies. He condemned big businesses, railroad companies, and bankers.

The following was NOT supported by the Bourbon Triumvirate:

C) giving equal status to African Americans

The Bourbon Triumvirate includes Joseph Brown, Alfred Colquitt, and John Gordon. These three men were the most powerful politicians in Georgia during the post-Reconstruction era. They promoted the idea of “the new south” and supported railroad companies, coal mining, and industrial development. These men also supported white supremacy and using convicts (especially African American men) for labor.
