Answer: Area is 120

Explanation:

Get the area of the entire square, then subtract the area of the smaller rectangle inside of it. So 12 times 13 is 156. 9 times 4 is 36. 156 minus 36 is 120.

Answer: 120

Step by step explanation:
Total area of big shape - total area of small shape = area of big shape

Small shape: 9 x 4 = 36
Big shape: 12 x 13 = 156

156 - 36 = 120
