Explanation:

Fermentation can be defined as the process by which single glucose molecule is broken and converted into two carbon dioxide molecule and two ethanol molecule.

It is used in bakery to give rise to dough as the carbon dioxide releases bubbles expanding the dough into foam.

In case of lactic acid fermentation the glucose is converted into energy which is used in metabolic processes and lactate is formed in the solution.
