Of the following given choice;

A) CHLOROPLASTS

B) LEUCOPLASTS

C) NUCLEI

D) RIBOSOMES

The answer is; A

Chloroplasts are pigmented plastids (unlike leucoplasts), are significant in photosynthesis by autotrophs. They have chlorophyll pigment that taps sunlight and uses the energy to split water molecules (in a process called photolysis). The hydrogen atoms are then used to reduce carbon dioxide to carbohydrates. SIcne the roots are under the soil surface, rarely do they get exposed to sunlight. Therefore, they naturally have very few chloroplasts in comparison to the leaves.
