Suppose a museum has a rectangular painting that measures 36 inches by 48 inches.

Length of the rectangle = 36 inches

width of the rectangle = 48 inches

Area of the rectangle = length * width

we replace length and width and calculate area

Area of the rectangle = 36 * 48= 1,728

Area of the rectangle= 1,728 square inches
