our speed is given as


v_1 = 5 m/s towards friend

Speed of the friend


v_2 = 2 m/s away from us

now relative velocity with respect to our friend is given as


v_(12) = v_1 - v_2


v_(12) = 5 - 2


v_(12) = 3 m/s

so here the relative velocity will be 3 m/s towards the friend

so friend will see that we are moving towards him with relative velocity of 3 m/s
