1) My brother is 5 years older than me. My sister is 3 years younger than me. How old was I when my brother was k years old? How old will my sister be when I am n years old?

2) A carpenter can do a job in two hours. His assistant can do the same job in three hours. How long would it take them to do the job together?

3)The sum of Lisa's age and Myra's age is 19. In 10 years, Lisa will be 5 years older than Myra. How old is each girl now?

Carpenter's rate of work = 1/2 units per hour

Assistant's rate of work = 1/3 units per hour

Their combined rate of work = 1/2+1/3 units per hour

=5/6 units per hour

So, time required to do the job together

= 1/(5/6) hours

= 6/5 hours
