Answer:

t = 0.2

Explanation:

1) 0.8 - 2t = 1 - 3t

2) 0.8 - 2t (+ 3t) = 1 - 3t (+ 3t)

3) 0.8 (- 0.8) + t = 1 (- 0.8)

4) t = 0.2

Reason:

You have to isolate the variable so move 3t by adding to to both sides to cancel out itself. Then minus 0.8 to isolate the variable.

Hope that helps!

Answer:

t = 0.2

Explanation:

I have a feeling it is not the problem's procedure that is giving you trouble. It is the decimals. I'll try and be careful but do ask about what you do not understand.

0.8 - 2t = 1 - 3t You could start one of two ways. Either works. Add 2t

0.8 - 2t = 1 - 3t + 2t

0.8 = 1 - t That's because -3 + 2 leaves you with 1. Not subtract 1 from both sides.

0.8 - 1 = 1 - 1 - t This is a calculator problem. Put it in the way you see it.

0.8

=

1

=

- 0.2 = - t Divide by -1

-0.2/-1 = -t/-1

0.2 = t
