2x - y = 33
2(7) - y = 33
14 - y = 33
-y = 19
y = -19

Therefore, the two numbers are: 7 and -19, in that order.

Let the two numbers be = x and y

Sum of these two numbers is 12 , so

x+y=12 from here we get,
x=12-y

The difference between twice the first number and the second number is 33

2x-y=33 ....(1)

Putting the value of x=12-y in equation (1)

2(12-y)-y=33

24-2y-y=33

-3y=9

y=-3

As x+y=12

x+(-3)=12

x=15

Hence the two numbers are = 15 and -3
