Since it is parallel to y=5x+2, it has the same slope. So, the slope will be 5.
We can then write: y=5x+b. Remember this equation for later.

We need to find what number we need to put for b.
The next step is to "plug in" the point into the x and y.
So: the equation becomes 1=5(-2)+b
We can now solve this, and we will then know b.
solve:
1=-10+b
11=b
Now we can go to the equation we already made: y=5x+b, and replace b with 11. So, the new equation is y=5x+11. And that is the answer.
